A 3-Step Daily Reset for Safety, Fear Rewiring & Emotional Healing After Trauma

After surviving a stroke and a catastrophic accident, I’ve had to rebuild not just my body—but my nervous system, my thoughts, and my sense of safety in the world. At the very least, I dedicate 10 minutes each morning to anchoring my body in safety. From there, I’ve developed a simple 3-step daily reset that helps me move through fear, regulate my thoughts, and gently rewire how I relate to uncertainty, pain, and hope. This is not about perfection. It’s about returning to yourself, over and over again, especially after trauma. 1. Morning Safety Anchor (2 minutes) I place my hand on my heart and breathe: inhale for 4, hold for 2, exhale for 6. I say: “In this moment, I am safe.” This helps ground my nervous system and even supports calming phantom pain when it shows up. 2. Midday Thought Flip (30 seconds at a time) When fear starts to spiral into “what if” scenarios, I pause. Instead of feeding the fear, I answer it gently: “And if it happens, I’ll handle it. What if it goes right inst...

Unlocking Your Psychic Potential: Understanding the Different Types of Intuition and Extrasensory Abilities

My Journey into Psychic Awareness

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been able to feel energy—whether it’s the emotions of others, a sudden intuitive knowing, or an unexplainable sense that something is about to happen. I always knew I was an empath, but I never fully understood how deep these abilities went.

Lately, I’ve been diving deeper into my spiritual journey, exploring the connection between the mind and energy. As I listened to Psychic for Beginners, things started clicking into place. I realized that what I once brushed off as “just intuition” or “coincidences” were actually signs of psychic awareness—abilities that I hadn’t been fully utilizing.

The more I learn, the more I understand that we all have psychic abilities, but many of us haven’t been taught how to recognize or develop them. In this post, I’ll share what I’ve learned about the different types of psychic gifts, so you can begin identifying and strengthening your own.

The 8 Clair Senses: How We Perceive Psychic Energy

The word clair means "clear", and the different clairs represent various ways of receiving psychic information. While most people associate psychic ability with seeing visions, there are actually many different ways to experience intuitive insights. Here are the main eight types of psychic abilities:

1. Clairvoyance – Clear Seeing

This is the ability to receive psychic information visually. Clairvoyants may see images, symbols, or even full visions in their mind’s eye (the third eye). Some experience dream-like flashes, while others may see energy fields or spirits.

Signs You Have Clairvoyance:

  • You see flashes of images or colors when meditating or thinking about someone.
  • Your dreams are vivid, symbolic, and sometimes prophetic.
  • You can visualize things easily and often “see” how events will unfold.

2. Clairaudience – Clear Hearing

Clairaudience is the ability to receive messages through sound or inner hearing. This can be an actual external sound or an internal voice that provides guidance.

Signs You Have Clairaudience:

  • You often hear a voice in your head giving you advice or warnings.
  • You pick up on frequencies or subtle sounds that others don’t notice.
  • Music or certain tones deeply affect your emotions and energy.

3. Clairsentience – Clear Feeling

Clairsentients are highly sensitive to energy and can feel psychic information in their body. This includes physical sensations, emotions, and even sensing past events in a location.

Signs You Have Clairsentience:

  • You get chills, tingles, or sudden bodily sensations when something important is happening.
  • You can physically feel the emotions of others, sometimes as if they were your own.
  • Certain places or objects give you strong energetic impressions.

4. Clairempathy – Clear Emotional Feeling

Similar to clairsentience, clairempaths are highly in tune with the emotions of others. They don’t just understand emotions—they actually absorb them.

Signs You Have Clairempathy:

  • You feel emotionally drained after being around certain people.
  • You can tell how someone feels without them saying a word.
  • Crowds or intense emotional environments overwhelm you.

5. Claircognizance – Clear Knowing

Claircognizance is intuitive knowing—receiving information without any logical explanation. It often comes as sudden thoughts, ideas, or realizations.

Signs You Have Claircognizance:

  • You just “know” things without being told.
  • You get sudden insights or answers that turn out to be true.
  • You often predict outcomes before they happen.

6. Clairtangency – Clear Touch (Psychometry)

Clairtangency is the ability to receive psychic information through touch. Some people can pick up on memories or emotions from objects or places.

Signs You Have Clairtangency:

  • You feel sensations when touching old objects, jewelry, or photos.
  • You get visions or impressions when entering new places.
  • You enjoy working with your hands and feel a deep connection to physical objects.

7. Clairsalience – Clear Smelling

Clairsalience is the ability to smell psychic energy. This can include scents linked to spirits, memories, or messages from the beyond.

Signs You Have Clairsalience:

  • You randomly smell a familiar scent (like perfume or flowers) when no one is around.
  • Certain smells trigger strong intuitive insights or memories.
  • You are highly sensitive to subtle or distant smells.

8. Clairgustance – Clear Tasting

Clairgustance is the rare ability to taste psychic information, often connected to spirit communication.

Signs You Have Clairgustance:

  • You suddenly taste foods or flavors without eating anything.
  • You associate certain flavors with memories or emotions.
  • You have an extremely sensitive palate and can detect subtle flavors.

How to Develop Your Psychic Gifts

If any of these abilities resonate with you, you may already be using them without realizing it! Here are a few ways to strengthen and develop your psychic senses:

Meditation: Quieting the mind allows you to tune into subtle energies and receive clearer messages.

🔮 Journaling: Keep track of your intuitive hits, dreams, and experiences to recognize patterns in your abilities.

🔮 Energy Work: Practices like Reiki, breathwork, or working with crystals can help fine-tune your energetic awareness.

Trust Your Gut: The more you acknowledge your intuition, the stronger it becomes.

🔮 Practice with Objects: Try holding an object and seeing what impressions come to you (this strengthens clairtangency).

Spend Time in Nature: Nature amplifies our natural psychic abilities by helping us align with the Earth’s energy.

Final Thoughts

Developing psychic abilities isn’t about gaining “superpowers”—it’s about reconnecting with the natural gifts we all possess. Whether you’re a clairvoyant visionary, an empathic feeler, or a claircognizant knower, your intuition is a powerful tool that can guide you in life.

As I continue my journey into psychic development, I realize that these abilities are not separate from who we are—they are a part of our deeper connection to energy, spirit, and the universe itself.

Have you experienced any of these psychic abilities? Let me know in the comments!

It’s time for me to start telling my story.

It’s time for me to start telling my story. For a long time, I stayed quiet outside of a very small circle of close friends. I shared only enough to stay connected, but not enough to be fully seen. That wasn’t avoidance—it was protection. After my accident, my nervous system and my energy field simply could not take in more input from the outside world. As an empath, I had to retreat in order to survive and heal. But as my strength slowly returns, I feel that silence shifting. I was in a tragic accident on Ortega Highway that changed the entire course of my life. In an instant, everything I knew about my body, my independence, and my future was disrupted. Since then, I’ve been forced into a long and ongoing process of rebuilding—not just physically, but emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. And I’m still in it. Even the simplest things that most people take for granted have become daily challenges. Basic mobility. Using the restroom safely and in time. Navigating transfers ...

Why I’m Still Here

Why I’m Still Here By Jean Marshall I’ve asked myself the question more times than I can count: Why am I still here? After a stroke that changed my life five years ago, I thought I had already learned resilience. I thought I had already been tested. But then came the accident — a beautiful September morning that shattered my body, altered my future, and once again forced me to start over from the ground up. There are days I still can’t fully understand it. One man’s poor decision, one wrong moment, and everything changed. My bones broke. My leg was lost. My body shut down. My life — the one I’d built with so much effort — came to a stop. But somehow, my heart didn’t. They tell me it took over twenty doctors and nurses to keep me alive that day. I was in an induced coma, held together by machines, prayers, and the hands of strangers. There were moments I thought I was dying — I even said my last prayers. But each time I surrendered, something unseen pulled me back. Something...

Help Me Stay Housed While Recovering From a Life-Changing Accident

Help Me Stay Housed While Recovering From a Life-Changing Accident On September 6th, my life changed in an instant when a driver crossed into my lane on Ortega Highway and hit me head-on. My car was thrown into the air and I nearly lost my life. My vehicle was completely totaled. I spent four months in the hospital. The first part was in a trauma unit where I was placed in an induced coma and underwent multiple life-saving surgeries. I was then transferred to an acute care facility where I required critical support, including IVs, a tracheostomy, a feeding tube, and dialysis. My injuries included: Loss of my right leg Six broken ribs and two vertebrae Broken pelvis, right arm, and wrist Multiple fractures in my left leg Kidney and heart failure from trauma Many of my injuries required surgical repair with metal hardware that I am still healing from After returning home, my focus has been recovery. I’ve faced infections, complications, and delayed healing that hav...

What Surviving Twice Taught Me About Purpose—And What It Didn’t

Questioning the idea that survival comes with a purpose to fulfill I’ve survived two life-altering events, and what I’ve learned about purpose isn’t what people expect. They say, “God kept your alive for a reason,” or “God still has a purpose for you.” And I need to be honest about how that lands for me. It doesn’t feel comforting. It feels like pressure. Like surviving something traumatic automatically comes with an assignment—something I’m supposed to figure out later, some hidden meaning I’m expected to uncover. And in my case, this hasn’t been said just once. It’s been said twice. Once after my stroke in 2020. And now again after a near-death accident on September 6th 2025 that changed my life forever. So it starts to create a pattern I can’t ignore—that my survival is always being tied to some purpose I haven’t “fulfilled” yet. And that raises a real question for me: Why does it sound like I have to go through something catastrophic in order for my life to be cons...
