10 Months Later. Here's Where I Am

It's hard to believe it's been 10 months since my accident. It's been quite a journey. I went from the trauma unit to an acute care hospital, connected to more life support machines than I could count. One by one, I was able to come off each machine until I was finally discharged at the end of December. When I got home, I spent about a month in bed. I couldn't do much for myself and had to slowly rebuild my strength. I started going to the gym once a week, and after a couple of months I was finally able to get a caretaker who could take me two or three times a week. That's when I really started making progress. But recovery hasn't been a straight line. My amputated leg had complication after complication, and the wounds wouldn't heal for months. Even though I received my prosthetic leg on February 10, I couldn't safely wear it until the very end of April because the wounds wouldn't close. Just when I started walking with my prosthetic at the gym, I ...

The Connection Between Higher Consciousness, the Soul, and Higher Spirit

As I continue my spiritual journey, one of the biggest questions I’ve been exploring is the relationship between my higher consciousness, my soul, and higher spirit. How do they connect? Are they separate, or are they different aspects of the same truth?

I’ve always been a deep thinker and a deep feeler, which has made me naturally drawn to questions about existence, the universe, and the unseen forces at play in our lives. The more I explore, the more I realize that understanding this connection isn’t just about knowledge—it’s about experiencing it.

The Soul: The Eternal Essence of Who We Are

Many spiritual traditions describe the soul as the eternal, unchanging part of us. It’s the core of our being—the part that exists beyond this lifetime, beyond the physical body. Our soul carries our wisdom, our purpose, and the deepest truths of who we are.

I used to think of the soul as something distant, something I had to find. But now, I see it differently. My soul has always been here—it’s not lost; it’s simply waiting for me to remember.

Higher Consciousness: Awakening to the Soul’s Wisdom

If the soul is our eternal essence, then higher consciousness is our ability to perceive and connect with it. It’s the shift from living on autopilot to living with awareness. It’s that deep sense of knowing, those intuitive nudges, those moments of clarity where everything just makes sense.

When we expand our consciousness, we begin to:

  • Recognize our soul’s presence in our daily lives.
  • See beyond surface-level reality and into the deeper truths of existence.
  • Experience heightened intuition and awareness, as if we are awakening to a greater reality.

Some might say that higher consciousness is a state of being where the soul’s light shines through—where we are no longer just thinking and feeling, but truly knowing.

Higher Spirit: The Divine Connection

Many spiritual teachings suggest that beyond our personal soul, there is something even greater—a Higher Spirit, Source, or Divine Intelligence that connects all things. Some call it God, the Universe, or simply Higher Power.

If the soul is the individual expression of divine energy, then Higher Spirit is the infinite ocean from which that energy flows. When we raise our consciousness, we don’t just connect with our own soul—we begin to experience the oneness of all things.

I’ve started to realize that when I quiet my mind and listen—whether through meditation, deep reflection, or even moments of stillness in nature—I can feel this connection more strongly. It’s as if my soul and Higher Spirit are always in communication; I just need to tune in.

Bringing It All Together: A Journey of Awakening

Understanding the connection between the soul, higher consciousness, and higher spirit isn’t just an intellectual pursuit—it’s a personal experience.

  • When we seek to know ourselves at a deeper level, we connect with our soul.
  • When we expand our awareness beyond the physical world, we access higher consciousness.
  • When we surrender to the divine flow of the universe, we touch Higher Spirit.

For me, this journey is about learning to trust—trust my intuition, trust my soul’s wisdom, and trust that I am always connected to something greater.

Practices to Deepen This Connection

If you’re also exploring these questions, here are a few practices that have helped me:

  1. Meditation & Stillness – Quieting the mind allows us to hear the whispers of the soul.
  2. Mindfulness & Presence – Being fully present in the moment helps us experience higher consciousness.
  3. Journaling & Self-Reflection – Writing down insights and experiences can reveal deeper patterns and truths.
  4. Energy Work & Healing – Practices like Reiki, breathwork, and crystal healing can align us with our higher self.
  5. Trusting Intuition – Learning to listen to our inner voice strengthens our connection to the unseen.

I’m still piecing all of this together, but one thing is clear—this journey is unfolding exactly as it should. The more I open myself to experiencing my soul, the more my higher consciousness expands, and the more I feel the presence of something greater guiding me.

Walking Through Fear While My Life Is Still Unstable

Walking Through Fear Anyway: When Survival Becomes a Daily Choice I’m at risk of losing my housing right now. That sentence alone feels surreal to write, but it’s my reality. I’ve already survived things most people only ever read about. A catastrophic accident. A medically induced coma. An amputation. Metal now holding parts of my body together—including my vertebrae, and my left leg from my knee to my ankle. I’m still learning what all of this means in real time, because even now, no one has fully explained every part of what happened to me. I also don’t remember the accident itself. Not because I’m avoiding it—but because my mind shut it out. The trauma was so severe, and my body was so critically compromised, that everything went into survival shutdown. I had kidney failure and heart failure. My body was shutting down, and my brain shut down with it. What I do remember is the day. I remember my thought process clearly in the beginning. I remember thinking I wasn’t in a...

I Didn’t Ask for This: My Journey After a Life-Changing Accident

I recently shared a post asking for support during a very difficult time in my life, and I received some comments calling me a "beggar" or accusing me of "money begging." I want to clarify something: I am not begging. I am asking for help while I try to survive an unexpected and life-altering situation. There is no obligation for anyone to donate. People are free to scroll past, say no, or simply wish me well. But it's incredibly hurtful when people judge a situation they haven't lived. I was in a catastrophic accident that was not my fault, and it permanently changed my life. I didn't ask to lose my leg. I didn't ask to spend four months in the hospital. I didn't ask for my body to be permanently altered, my car to be totaled, or my ability to work and support myself to be taken away. This didn't happen gradually or by choice. It happened in an instant, and it has taken away my health, my independence, and my ability to support myself in the...
