A 3-Step Daily Reset for Safety, Fear Rewiring & Emotional Healing After Trauma

After surviving a stroke and a catastrophic accident, I’ve had to rebuild not just my body—but my nervous system, my thoughts, and my sense of safety in the world. At the very least, I dedicate 10 minutes each morning to anchoring my body in safety. From there, I’ve developed a simple 3-step daily reset that helps me move through fear, regulate my thoughts, and gently rewire how I relate to uncertainty, pain, and hope. This is not about perfection. It’s about returning to yourself, over and over again, especially after trauma. 1. Morning Safety Anchor (2 minutes) I place my hand on my heart and breathe: inhale for 4, hold for 2, exhale for 6. I say: “In this moment, I am safe.” This helps ground my nervous system and even supports calming phantom pain when it shows up. 2. Midday Thought Flip (30 seconds at a time) When fear starts to spiral into “what if” scenarios, I pause. Instead of feeding the fear, I answer it gently: “And if it happens, I’ll handle it. Self-Reflection:

Identify the Source: I'd try to pinpoint the source of the imbalance. Am I feeling stressed? Overwhelmed? Resentful? Sad? Tired?

Journaling: I'd journal my feelings to gain clarity and understand the root of the issue.


Prioritize Self-Care:

Rest and Relaxation: I'd prioritize sleep, rest, and relaxation techniques like deep breathing exercises, meditation, or spending time in nature.


Healthy Habits: I'd focus on nourishing my body with healthy food, staying hydrated, and getting regular exercise.

Connect with Nature:


Grounding: I'd spend time in nature, grounding myself by walking barefoot on the grass or sitting by a tree.


Sunlight: I'd make sure to get enough sunlight, which is essential for vitamin D production and mood regulation.


Mindful Practices:


Meditation: I'd explore different meditation techniques, such as mindfulness meditation or guided imagery, to calm my mind and cultivate inner peace.


Yoga: I'd practice yoga, which combines physical postures, breathing exercises, and mindfulness to improve flexibility, strength, and mental clarity.


Social Connection: Connect with Loved Ones: I'd spend time with loved ones, engage in meaningful conversations, and seek support from my social circle.


Professional Help:

Therapy: If the imbalance persists or significantly impacts my daily life, I would consider seeking professional help from a therapist or counselor.

Important Note: This is just a starting point. The best approach will vary depending on the individual and the specific situation.

By prioritizing self-care, connecting with my inner self, and seeking support when needed, I would strive to restore balance and harmony to my energy.
